Tiger wins U.S Open and 14th Major

Congratulations to Tiger Woods on his historic U.S Open Victory. It was one for the ages as Rocco Mediate and Tiger Woods gave the crowd at Torrey Pines something that they would remember, an extra 18 hole playoff and a sudden death extra hole. It was a drama filled open as Tiger drained a clutch birdie on the 18th yesterday to extend the tournament to Monday and another drama filled 19 holes. Tiger recently coming off knee surgery, limped throughout the week and had trouble hitting fairways, but still had enough will to drain clutch putts and grab his 14th major from the 45 year old journeyman and good friend Rocco Mediate. Tiger started out strong, taking an early 3 stroke lead, just to watch it dwindle as Rocco played smart and steady golf. Mediate had a 1 stroke lead going into the 18th. You just felt that Tiger had one more trick up his sleeve, and he did not let up as he birdied the 18th to tie Rocco on the final playoff hole. The two golfers took it to the 7th tee for sudden death. Mediate had finally ran out of gas as he played his worst hole of the day, leaving Tiger enough room to sneak in and capture probably his most impressive Major. Congrats to Rocco Mediate for raising his game to an all time high and winning over alot of new fans, including me. Also congrats to Tiger for still setting the bar extremely high and winning despite having a bum knee.
