Celtics win 17th Title in Convincing Fashion

It was a Boston Tea Party and the "T" stands for title. It looked more like the Boston Massacre as the Boston Celtics throttled the L.A Lakers 131-92 in game 6 of the NBA finals to raise their record 17th championship banner. Kobe and his Lakers finally had no answer for the Celtics "big three" of Garnett, Pierce, and Allen. The game wasn't even close after the first quarter. Boston was a team possessed, with frustrating defense, and a high octane offense that returned a title to Bean town after a 22 year drought. After being dead last in the east in 2007, General Manager and former Celtic point guard Danny Ainge made the right moves acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. The team jelled from the gate, and took Boston to the promised land, completing the biggest one year turn around in NBA history. Boston could not close out the Lakers in L.A, but it was fitting that they win the championship in front of the home town fans that stuck with the franchise through it's most abysmal years. Paul Pierce was named finals MVP and let the fans know how much they meant to him: "Everybody stuck with me throughout all the hard times. I know we didn't have a lot of great years, but you guys stuck with me, and now we bring home a championship to you."

I for one was very happy to see Garnett(KG), Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and even P.J Brown get the ring that has so eluded them. Each has had great accomplishments and personal accolades, but never a championship. Now lets see who can compete with this fundamentally sound and unselfish example of what the true meaning of "Team" is. I hope all the other NBA teams payed close attention to what it takes to bring a title to their franchise. I know the Lakers did. Congratulations also to coach Doc Rivers for molding these superstars into playing tough defense and team ball, and to remind them to just have fun. Ultimately that's what it's all about.
